Palm Springs Glory

By Ariane Gallizzi

Palm Springs has the largest concentration of Mid Century Modern architecture and retro lifestyle. The era is known for its geometrical and bold patterns, clean and simple lines and minimalist design. The Palm Springs Glory shawl focusses on round shapes, realized in two patterns: a semi circles and a waves pattern. These patterns are often used for retro style clothing or decorative items such as pillows or wall prints and make a bold statement.

This simple yet elegant shawl is crescent-shaped and worked in two contrasting colorways to make the patterns pop. They are worked in the so called Mosaic Knitting technique which was coined by Barbara G. Walker in the late 60s and is gaining popularity in the knitting world again. How retro!
