Fields Forever
Fields Forever
By Meli Alness
I set myself the task of designing a shawl with a single skein of Haven plus the remaining contrast color (50 grams) from my triangle shawl pattern, “Another Peacock.” Slipped stitches, eyelets, and garter row sections remind me of both the fields surrounding my Minnesota hometown (corn, soybeans, and goldenrod) and the terraced fields half a world away on the Tibetan Plateau (chartreuse-colored rapeseed flowers). Either way, this shawl is like coming home.
